Are you feeling it?
On Sunday the reality of Covid-19 began to sink in. Not that I have fully comprehended the impact it is having, and will have, on the world and our futures. I am not sure anyone can? But I walk around feeling permanently anxious... and I can't quite understand why. Yes, the underlying reason is obvious - but why am I reacting to it this way? The question has had me so pre-occupied that I have done some really silly things. Perhaps it’s good that I am not allowed out of my house. Is it the lack of control? The uncertainty? The peace and quiet that I am not used to? Concern for my parents? Concern for my business? Concern for those less fortunate? Could I be missing my favourite restaurant that much? It's an emotional roller-coaster.... and that's not me!
And then my colleague, Deepa, shared this article with me: https://hbr.org/2020/03/that-discomfort-youre-feeling-is-grief. It's worth a read and has shed light on what I am feeling... it's grief.
